Gobindgarh Fort is spread across a grand 43 acres, right in the heart of Amritsar city. This magnificent, heritage site has a glorious history of its own, spanning across 257 years right from the era of the Bhangi Misl to the time of Maharaja Ranjit Singh to the British East India Company to the Indian Army.
The fort, held under the control of the army for a long time, was opened to the public in 2017 after a massive restoration, and provides a window into a crucial chapter of Punjab's history. The sword used by the Maharaja and the largset canon of its time called 'Zamzama' are the landmark exhibits here. A sound and light show - Whispering Walls - in the evening uses laser lights, computer animation and projection mapping to recreate the history of the fort.It also has Arms Museum at General Dyers Bunglow, Coins Museum at Toshakha and Pagdi Museum inside Gobindgarh Fort.
The Fort has been given under PPP mode by Punjab Tourism & Cultural Affairs to Maya Nagri World Pvt Ltd.
