The Thibaw Palace was built by the Britishers to keep King Thibaw under house arrest. Though the king was under British rule, he was given legal rights and was treated with state honour.
The palace is a beautifully constructed three storied structure with sloping roofs, semi-circular wooden windows with beautiful carvings and a dancing hall with marbled tiles.
