The Kanyakumari Lighthouse was inaugurated in 4th November 1971. It is square type stone missionary 30 meters height with red and white band tower. The character of Lighthouse is white 2 group flash in every 20 seconds.

It is equipped with “C” code RACON and NAIS equipments.

3 KW off grid solar power plant is also installed in the L.H in 2016. The coastal surveillance Radar is installed in the tower in 2014

This lighthouse is connected with National highway NH44 and nearest railway station is Kanyakuamri Railway Station. Now the lighthouse is provided with 8 passengers Elevator.
